He lists these: (read his post for details and descriptions)
- Research friendly/unfriendly blogs.
- Once you research them, classify them.
- Build a Relationship With Bloggers
- Make Sure It's Really Newsworthy
- Treat Them With Respect
- When Possible, Provide Audio & Video
- Promote Them
All of these suggestions are good; I would add
- Make sure your content is based solidly on the truth: Bloggers often follow the MSM
and go after any incorrect information, even other bloggers, this is known as fisking. I would
add to item 6 above in regards to supporting truthful information: provide supporting links that the bloggers can turn to and quotations that they can use.
- Publish the press release on your site: Allow bloggers to quote your press release with their commentary. You should consider allowing trackbacks to your press releases, the down side is you may get spam and have to remove some trackbacks from time to time. Look at their articles and post comments (which goes back to item 3 above). Have an RSS feed for your press releases so
bloggers can pick up the information rapidly.
- Sources, sources and more sources: If you can provide sources that the blogger can use by all means do so ... if many organizations or people have made a statement that could be usful in an article put them in the release allow bloggers to pick and choose the quoations that work best with their article.
