Right of Same Sex Marriage = Newspeak • Yes on 8 protects rights

Same Sex Marriage

Doublethink is

The power of holding two contradictory beliefs in one's mind simultaneously, and accepting both of them . . . . To tell deliberate lies while genuinely believing in them, to forget any fact that has become inconvenient, and then, when it becomes necessary again, to draw it back from oblivion for just so long as it is needed, to deny the existence of objective reality and all the while to take account of the reality which one denies — all this is indispensably necessary. Even in using the word doublethink it is necessary to exercise doublethink. For by using the word one admits that one is tampering with reality; by a fresh act of doublethink one erases this knowledge; and so on indefinitely, with the lie always one leap ahead of the truth.

For example lets look at rights; Would it be nice if wants were rights? Then whatever you wanted could be considered a right. making the argument that a want is a right is using doublethink. It makes no difference if the "right" is genetically disposed. People can be genetically disposed to alcoholism but there is no right to act on that desire. A right is not a want. Making these two words mean nearly the same thing is an example of newspeak.

One character says admiringly of the shrinking volume of the new dictionary: "It's a beautiful thing, the destruction of words."

You can thank George Orwell for these terms.

In 1941, Orwell worked for BBC's Eastern Service, supervising Indian broadcasts meant to stimulate India's war participation against the approaching Japanese army. About being a propagandist, he wrote of feeling like "an orange that's been trodden on by a very dirty boot". Still, he devoted much effort to the opportunity of working closely with the likes of T. S. Eliot, E. M. Forster, Mulk Raj Anand, and William Empson; the war-time Ministry of Information, at Senate House, University of London, inspired the Ministry of Truth in the novel Nineteen Eighty-Four.

Orwell warned us in his novels about doublespeak and newspeak. In animal farm the animals lose their beloved 7 commandments one by one as they are changed, and the elite pigs usurp the commandments.

The problem is if we lose the meaning of what a right means by making it mean want, we lose the word and its meaning; It's not beautiful thing, the destruction of words.

What a right really is, is a natural characteristic of humans, or that is to say rights are given by the creator. People by nature have beliefs, they have a right to their beliefs and a right or freedom to speak. Having a belief and speaking about it does not intrude on other peoples rights. I am free to have my belief and you are free to have yours; I am free to speak and you are free to speak. I have a right to self defense, a natural charactoric of life. I have a right to petition the government, a natural characteristic of being human with the knowledge of right and wrong. I have a right to a fair trial, a natural characteristic of the humans to desire for justice.

Marriage is based on the right to procreate. Gods law is that people get married to procreate, they receive blessing for this of a stable relationship in which to raise children. States have chosen to recognize marriages, states are not the creator of marriage. The concept of rights is that they are given by the creator, they are not privileges given by the state. The state gives privileges, rights are above the authority of the state.

To procreate requires one male and one female, there is no other union that creates children. Procreation is a natural God given right. Same sex, sex is a want, and it is unnatural as it leads to health problems and early death rates. It most certainly is not from God as it is considered a sin.

Rights to not violate other peoples rights I do not have a right to force others to provide me with services. I do not have a right to make people accept me, like me, or love me (although I may want to). "ALL ANIMALS ARE EQUAL, BUT SOME ANIMALS ARE MORE EQUAL THAN OTHERS," means equal no longer means equal. If people have a right to violate somebody elses right then the meaning of rights has been changed.

Genetic disposition does not create a right. People can have dispositions to many different types of behavior, many of these may be done legally providing they do not intrude on other peoples rights; Other desires are considered illegal; Someone can want to marry more than one person, but that is not a right it is a want. Homosexuality has never been found to be a genetic disposition, people in jail may become homosexual then when released are no longer homosexual. People who were homosexual have received help and have became heterosexual. The reason for homosexual may be varied, but none the less if a genetic dispostion is ever found that does not create a right.

Same sex marriage is a vehicle that violates others rights. It tramples on other rights of religious belier. It tramples on the rights of parents to teach their children the moral values they believe are best. It tramples adoption providers rights to discern which potential parents to provide services to.

The court ruling changes both the meaning of marriage and the meaning of rights. Prop 8 can redress the issue and restore the will of the people over the will of the elite. What George Orwell tried to warn us about, is that if we let people take away "oldspeak" we can very easily lose concepts like freedom. The dictionary becomes smaller and the concept is no longer part of the language.

Is there any truth to "Prop 8 removes any right of same sex couples," no! Same sex couples maintain there rights. The court ruling forces others to accept them, and provide services to them against the religious rights of other people. Yes on 8 maintains the intergety of the words (marriage / rights) and protects freedom of speech and religous freedom. Yes on 8 allows parents the freedom to raise their children as they choose.

Prop 8 Protects Marriage and Children
We need to support and vote Yes on Prop 8 which states that "only marriage between a man and a woman is legal and recognized in California." If it does not pass, homosexual marriage will be legal in this state to the detriment of our children.

... Now before anyone gets all in an uproar about discrimination, lets go over a few facts. In California, couples living together, of any gender combination, have the same rights and privileges extended to them as any couples who are married. I will not remove the rights of others to act as they choose. They can do what they want, but that does not mean we have to change the definition of marriage to accommodate them. Marriage is a sacred covenant between a man and a woman.

... I can’t tell by the way it’s written whether both Equality California and the Human Rights Campaign have bundled more than $1.2 million, or more than $2.4 million combined, or whether together they’ve bundled more than $1.2 million. Either way, No on 8 has quite a war chest, especially when you consider that the funding for Let California Ring is separate.

On the other side, Yes on 8 is being waged primarily by a religious coalition of Mormons, Catholics and Evangelicals who are working to get Hindus, Jews, Muslims and others on board. They plan later this month to hand out over one million “Yes on 8? yard signs as their major campaign push. They have a lot of heart:

So this morning I went door to door to see what people think about Proposition 8. I arrived at the high school parking lot late, secretly hoping that for some reason there would be nobody there or that there would be nothing left to do. It’s not that I don’t feel strongly about the issue. I’ve devoted a page on this blog to it, but I do not like talking to people when I’m not sure what they are going to say back. I could never debate anyone in real time because I need to sit and process everything and don’t come up with quick answers ever.

...

In talking with people today I realized that most people don’t understand how changing the laws to allow same-sex marriage will actually cause others to lose their rights. There is no other group of people that have the level of protection that this would provide. Many people will be slapped with fines etc. if they use their religious beliefs as the reason for refusing to participate in same-sex weddings, adoptions, etc. The schools will be allowed, and required, to introduce the concept of homosexuality to children regardless of what their family’s beliefs on the subject.
