In Palin's acceptance speech she said she was not going to be in Washington to impress the mainstream media but to work for the people. No names were mentioned. But, people who have been watching politics while Gustave was forcing people out of their homes, saw a rumor mill that included verbal attacks on her teenage daughters.
While some in the media have no reason to scoff IE Michelle Malkin, as they may have exposed partisanship. Brokaw felt he needed to justify his reports or is unaware of what has been on MSNBC, CNN, and major newspapers:
This is a political tactic on their part. And the shorthand is, "Let's go after the media." And are they sorting out, for example, Fox or conservative blogs or others who have, in fact, been defending all of this? No what they want to do is just raise the specter that everything that America sees is controlled by a tiny band of Eastern liberal elites.

Since we have the prospect of the running mate for the Republican ticket more qualified to be president than the top of the ticket on the Democratic side, how does the campaign of Barack Hussein Obama deal with that? By using the same misogynist attacks, through surrogates of course, on Sarah Palin as they did on Hillary Clinton in the primaries. And even worse, they are resorting to going after her 17 year old daughter because she is pregnant. Wouldn't it be fair game then to bring up the fact that Obama's mother got pregnant with him out of wedlock and gave birth to him at the age of 18?

Congresswoman, what about the argument that, you know, vice president is a tough job, and that having a four month old baby, who has Down’s Syndrome, that will have special needs, requires extra time, that, that she should be focusing on her four month old, that some people have said that, fairly or unfairly. Tom Brokaw’s analysis is so incredibly one sided that it seems impossible that anybody would consider him to be a journalist with any kind of credibility. The desperation of Obama supporters keeps becoming ever more clear. We’ve now had them smear Palin and her daughter as sluts, notably Conan O’Brien and his crude “crease” reference on his show last night. Palin’s mothering quality has also been slandered, and her decision to have a successful career derided by those who would normally sneer at stay-at-home moms.
